Sources and licences

• OpenStreetMap: locations, names, and surface, lit, indoor/covered and fee tags. Pulled with the Overpass API.
• Our checks: surface, lights and indoor for selected parks, read from the official city or operator page. Each one stores the source URL and the date we checked. This is our own dataset, kept separate from the OpenStreetMap data.
• State outlines: US Census Bureau cartographic boundaries (public domain), used for the mini-maps and the state check.
• Base map: OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles, data from OpenStreetMap. Map library: MapLibre GL JS (BSD-3-Clause), served from this site.

OpenStreetMap

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). These pages are a produced work from that data. If we publish the underlying OSM-derived database, we will release it under the ODbL. The details we checked ourselves are kept as a separate dataset.

How we check details

We read the operator's own page, write a short factual summary in our own words, and store the URL and the date we checked. We don't copy text or photos.
